G-FORCE SRS1 - G-FORCE SRS1 Helmet Restraint System

G-FORCE SRS1 - G-FORCE SRS1 Helmet Restraint System

Use, Don't Abuse, Your Head!

The G-Force Research and Development team spent over two years designing the SRS1. The design parameters were driver comfort, ease of use, ease of ingress and egress from the racecar, performance comparable to other competing devices and a price that would not break the bank. The end result is that the G-Force R&D team met or exceeded all of these parameters. The SRS1 was also designed as a complete system that can be used in concert with a G-Force approved helmet. All approved helmets come with attachment points installed and have been Snell or SFI certification with the attachment points in place in place. They must also pass a test that helps ensure the attachment points minimum integrity. This is the problem with other add on type devices.

The SRS1 device consists of a cable that attaches to the helmet. This cable attachment allows the driver the freedom of movement to turn their head from side to side. Another benefit to this freedom of movement is that under braking, it helps hold your head up for less driver fatigue. The cable is attached to the restraint strap. The reaction rod is attached to the other end of the restraint strap. It is encased in a fire retardent material that helps center the rod under the seatbelts behind the driver's head. The SRS1 has been sled tested at Delphi, Wayne State University and other labs. Many experts today agree that over 4000 Newtons of force pulling on the neck may cause injury. The test results from Wayne State University used a Stock Car type seating arrangement with no side supports for the head or rib supports. The test was a 50G pulse at the drivers seat. This may not sound like much, but it is like hitting a concrete wall and stopping with a 50G impact. This is a lot of force! The object of the test was to stay under 4120 Newtons of force. The SRS1 passed the test, restraining force to 3435 Newtons, while the base test with no restraint measured 8063 Newtons! So use your head and get the G-Force SRS1 Restraint System!
